A doctor prescribed video game? Yes, that’s correct, in the modern world that we live in there is now officially a video game that requires a doctor’s prescription. Why does it need to be doctor prescribed? Well, EndeavorRx is not a typical video game designed to keep players hooked for hours. This game was created for patients of ADHD. So, the video game is somewhat therapeutic as it partners with other treatments to help 8–12-year old with cognitive skills.
First things first, EndeavorRx was developed by using brain studies to help target those children who were suffering from attention deficit in everyday tasks. The initial trial tested children ranging from ages 8 to 12 performance before, during, and after completing the trial. During the trial, the children played roughly for 25 minutes a day, 5 days a week, over a span of 4 weeks. The results showed over 68% of improvements in ADHD related impairments after 2 months of use. Of the total study, 73% of the children reported an improvement in their attention after completing a “yes-no” exit survey.
